Sterilization of medical tools for temporary emergency centers, clinics and hospitals in developing countries:

Between 5% and 10% of patients admitted to modern hospitals in the developed world acquire one or more infections. The risk of health care-associated infection in developing countries is 2 to 20 times higher than in developed countries.

In some developing countries, the proportion of patients affected by a health care-acquired infection can exceed 25%. In addition, many hospitals in developing countries and in disaster relief environments make do with simple disinfection of medical material but the risk of nosocomial infections remain high.

Sterilux Sàrl, a company founded by EPFL students, offers a sterilization technology for medical devices which is affordable for everyone: simple, robust, effective, "off-road" and at a very small cost.

The entire procedure takes a couple of hours:
