Revolutionizing blood purification!

hemoTUNE is developping a revolutionary therapeutic blood purification platform. Functionalized magnetic nanoparticles applied in a dialysis-like circuit allow specific removal of disease-related compounds directly from a patient's blood in an efficient and mild way.

Nanoparticles to bind toxins in the blood (Nanomagnets):

+ removal of disease-causing factors, biomolecules such as bacterial toxins or antibodies
+ magnetic filter unit clearing the blood from the harmful target molecules
+ nanomagnets remain always outside of the body of the patient
+ prototype has been built and tested in animal experiments
+ preclinical tests indicated good biocompatibility and therapy tolerability

Blood purification is an established field; however, it only uses conventional filters so far. „With our approach, we are entering a new territory” says Langenegger one of the founder.

The startup hemoTUNE was founded by three ETH researchers and the company is based in Zurich, Switzerland.
